SuorvaSweden

Optical fibres have been installed in two of the dams at Suorva in order to further improve the monitoring of the largest man made reservoir in Sweden. The fibre optic installations in 2004-2005 were made in order to measure movements (strain) on the crest at the East and West dam. The West dam is 76 m high.

A support toe berm were constructed in 2004 and 2005, also including an optic cable, which was installed on different elevations along the downstream slope to provide a good complement to the seepage monitoring.

Repeated measurement (at 1-3 years interval) are made on behalf of the dam owner, Vattenfall.
